Cucumbers are always a hit in our house. I can slice a whole one up, pop it in a bowl (within child’s reach) and it will be swarmed upon within minutes. When we all get together at Jimi’s parents there’s always a bowl of cucumber sticks for the kids, and we are constantly topping it up to avoid any punch ups over the last few.
So I decided to have a search of the benefits of the humble cucumber, and I wasn’t disappointed. My favourite few being these — it gives you an energy boost, it’s fantastic for hydration (as it’s pretty much all water), its great for weight loss and super for your skin. It is also proven to help dissolve kidney stones, stabilize your blood pressure and cuts cancer risk.
So chucking half a cucumber into the juicer along with some melon and a lime, which is also great for your skin and aids with weight loss too, results in not only a super healthy juice, but a really refreshing and delicious one too. This is the perfect way to start the day. The initial zesty kick wakes you up, and then the energy from the cucumber is gradually released to see you to lunch.
- ¼ honeydew melon, cut into chunks
- ½ cucumber, cut into chunks
- 1 lime, peeled and cut into chunks
- Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Best served cold.
